Every year I
travel by land to Argentina to see my father that lives there. So, I
take a bus and go through the Los Andes mountains. That takes five or
six hours to arrive at Mendoza. Maybe people find this travel very
interesting, but I have passed all my life from one country to
another, so I was bored all the day that takes. However, there is one
place on the trip that makes me with goosebumps. That place is named
“Los Caracoles”, or something like “snails”. It is a part of
the way that get many curves and steep at the same time. Sometimes
you can see a sign that has a number of the curve and could get to
more than 30 curves.
But the return is worst. The side of
chilean mountains is more precipitous than argentinian side, so, when
come back to home and take the bus we know what kind of experiences
is waiting for us... go down to the Caracoles. It is seems like you
get down very close to the edge of a cliff every curve, 30 times!
Also you can see other buses and cars very close underneath you, it
is very scared. You can see that every minute your bus could fall off
the precipice.
Obviously there are many accidents
because some people go to fast and many kinds of trucks go through
this way, the principal route between Argentina and Chile, so if you
can go for this way take it easy and breath deeply.
